Nutrition for a Healthy Life
If you are serious about living a long and healthy life then you need to learn about nutrition for a healthy life. The words nutritious food may sound nice but when it comes to feeding our bodies they can mean different things to different people. The basics of nutrition however are quite the same for everyone. What you eat is just as important as who you eat as it is what you do with that food. There are foods that are good for you and then there are foods that are really bad for you.
One thing that affects us throughout our lives is our hormones. These hormones are responsible for everything from growth and weight to menstruation and hot flashes. It’s also the hormone responsible for regulating our appetites, our sex drive and even our emotions. When it comes to nutrition for a healthy life it all starts with good nutrition. It all has to do with regulating your hormones.
A good nutritionist will tell you that most of the time a bad diet or poor eating habits are actually the result of having unbalanced hormones in our bodies. There are two hormones, one that we get from our parents and one that we get from our hormones. Those that come from our parents are called our oestrogen hormones and those that we receive from our hormones are called our progesterone hormones. There are some things that affect us more than others and when one of those things changes, the result can be everything from gain weight to acne.
If your diet is primarily comprised of fatty, greasy and sugary foods then that is definitely not good nutrition. We need to eat foods that are low in fat and sugar. While those foods may taste good, they can cause health problems. Most kids and adults alike will benefit from a good healthy eating habits among children.
When it comes to nutrition, one of the things that affect us more than others is our hormones. When we are young, we have fairly stable hormones. As we get older though, our hormones start to shift. One way that this happens is through eating enough food with progesterone and oestrogen but too much food with androgens or androgenic hormones can cause acne.
What does this have to do with nutrition? Eating too many calories and fats and too much sugar and carbohydrates will cause hormonal imbalances. This means that our body cannot control how it responds to the foods that we eat. If we eat too many carbs and fats our bodies may store fat instead of burning it. If we eat too much sugar and too many carbohydrates then our bodies must burn the stored fat to get rid of it.
One thing that helps keep our hormones balanced is exercise. Our bodies need good fats and complex carbohydrates to function properly. Foods like salmon, nuts, walnuts, seeds, beans, grains, seeds, and soybeans are rich in good fats and complex carbohydrates that are essential for a healthy diet. These foods help to keep our hormones balanced because they provide us with the necessary nutrition. In addition, they help to lower bad cholesterol while increasing our good cholesterol.
Now back to eating a healthy diet…the next time you are at the grocery store consider buying products from the food section. Instead of reaching for those heavily preserved or packaged foods with preservatives and color, reach for a few fresh fruits, vegetables, lean meats (especially chicken), and grain breads. These healthier choices will not only keep your hormones balanced, they will also make you feel better on a daily basis. Not only do these healthier options help to keep our hormones balanced, they also taste great, are easy to prepare, and provide a wide range of nutrients. So next time you reach for the bread stick or potato chip, think nutrition and your health and grab something else to eat instead!
