Understanding the Basics of the 12 Stages of Construction
What are the 12 steps of construction management? What is the beginning of a project? What is the main purpose of a project? What are the measures to manage a project? How does a project begin? These are some of the questions that will be answered.
The first step of the process of construction is framing. By framing we mean preparing the plan and starting the construction process. Framing may refer to the mechanical steps of constructing, like building the foundation and the walls or it may also mean the preparatory steps like the drawing up of the plans. The drawings will then serve as the blueprints that will define the dimensions and shape of each of the materials that will be used in the construction process.
The next step would be setting up the design
This is usually done by making detailed drawings and also testing the different possible designs and layouts. It is during this stage that the different phases will be set up so that the construction project will proceed in accordance with the specifications that have been defined in the blueprint. The first phase of this process is called planning and the main aim is to define the entire scope of the project, and take into consideration all the aspects that will have an impact on the construction process. In other words, the project management will deal with many things – budgets, schedules, goals, feasibility studies and even the selection of subcontractors.
The third step in the construction process would be dealing with the framing, which includes the erection of the structure, stucco works and exterior finishes such as paint and stains. In some projects, the exterior finishes will be included after the framing has been done. The fourth step is dealing with the electrical works, which include wiring, plumbing, fuses, wires and switches. Some of these aspects are not required on every project, while others will be required depending on the type of building or structure.
The final step in the process cycle is designing and drawing the construction project, which will include the major designs and blueprints as well as all the measurements and specifications that have been taken into account in the previous steps. The concept of this step in the process cycle is to keep a series of conceptual plans or to use them as guidelines. It will then be easier to adjust the construction process accordingly. It should be noted that this is one of the most important and crucial stages, because the design may change depending on the preferences of the client or the architect.
These are only the basic steps involved in every construction project. There are many other smaller processes that are involved in the overall construction. For instance, there are planning, estimating, and design, which are considered as sub-phases. If you want to know more about the other three phases, it would be better if you will research more about the topics mentioned. However, the important thing that you need to remember is that you should learn about these steps as early as possible before you start doing anything else.
The main purpose for this series of articles is to help you understand the basics of the construction process
Therefore, when you read this article, it would be helpful if you already have an idea on what should be done first, which is the planning. Then, you can learn about the estimation, designing, and the blueprint creation. You can also learn about the first steps in the process which is the implementation which is the next phase.
For your information, the basic steps of the project cycle include the conceptualization, the planning, the designing, the drawing, and the framing. Other steps include the materials installation, the prepping, and the construction itself. Each of these steps has its own meaning but all of them are closely related to one another. With this series of articles, you will definitely learn about the different concepts like designing, conceptualizing, and the drawing which are all needed in building a house. These are just some of the many things that you can learn from this article about the 12-step program that is commonly referred to as the Construction Safety Code.
